April First Weekend Activities

Saturday April 1st will be a devoted to getting things in order for the upcoming Ted Andrews Workshop. There is much to do but we always have fun things going on as well.

We hope you will join us in Wells for a day of work, fellowship and fun!

Camp Notes

We are always in need of people to work the snack bar and kitchen as well as various other areas during camp. If you want to share in the fellowship of working together or if you want to attend camp and finances are a concern for you these jobs may be helpful.

If you are interested please contact Linda 620-663-2988 or 620-727-4329, linda@sctelcom.net

About this time of year I ask you to donate supplies to help us through camp. Toilet tissue, paper towels, kleenix, dish or hand soap, & coffee are items always in demand.

Keeping Up With the Board – from President Karen Lyons

If you have not made reservations to attend the Home Coming weekend, it is not too late! Ted Andrews will be here Friday night for a book signing with the workshop following on Saturday. The rest of the weekend will be filled with fellowship and activities to celebrate the 125th year of Sunset Spiritualist Church. If you are unable to attend the workshop, we hope you will still make plans to join us as you are able. Patti and I have come to believe that Sunset Church is perhaps the oldest Christian Spiritualist church in the world. Patti has found one back East that is 123. We are truly among men most blessed.

The first Saturday in April has been designated as a work weekend by the Board of Trustees. The grounds and buildings will be prepared for the Home Coming celebration. I encourage anyone who is able to join us. I have a feeling the day won’t be all work and no play. We do have some painting to do and otherwise just good old fashioned cleaning. The Board will appreciate all the help we can get.

The first and last Saturdays in May have been designated work days to prepare for Camp. I can’t believe it’s time for Camp again and yet I can’t wait to see everyone again! The Camp Committee keeps telling The Board that they have everything under control and will have everything ready. The Camp Book is scheduled to be published and available for distribution at the Home Coming celebration.

We live in a world full of turmoil. The prayer list is long and the need great. May we each continue to hunger and thirst after righteousness, may we grow in the face of each change, may we seek refuge with those of like Spirit, and find peace in the counsel of God.

Healing Work or Private Counseling available after any Sunday Church Service by an attending Minister.

“We often spend so much time coping with problems along our path that we forget why we are on that path in the first place. The result is that we only have a dim, or even inaccurate, view of what’s really important to us.”
Peter Senge, The Fifth Discipline

“The benefits of the resurrection are innumerable. To list a few: Our illnesses don’t seem nearly so final; Our fears fade and lose their grip; Our grief over those who have gone on is diminished; Our desires to press on in spite of the obstacles is rejuvenated…
Our identity as Christians is strengthened as we stand in the lengthening shadows of saints down through the centuries, who have always answered back in antiphonal voice: ‘He is risen, indeed!'”
Charles Swindoll

The Meaning of Eggs at Easter

Since ancient times and in many cultures eggs have been regarded as the symbol of continuing life and resurrection. Because Osiris was born from an egg Isis considered the egg sacred so the priests of ancient Egypt never ate eggs. In Hinduism it is believed that when the Self-existent Lord became manifest he created water, he cast a seed to the water, the seed became a golden egg, after living in the egg for a divine year Brahma split it, forming heaven and earth. The egg gives birth to the four elements with the fifth it splits; the shell represents heaven, the meat of the egg earth and the white the waters of space and earth. Vishnu also emerges from the egg.

Eggs were exchanged at spring festivals in ancient Persia and Greece symbolizing the revival of nature after the winter. The early pagans gave eggs centuries before the birth of Christ as they made the connection between the egg and the idea of birth, new life, and creation. As they converted to Christianity under the rule of Constantine it seemed the natural symbol for the resurrection so eggs became “holy” and appropriate gifts at Easter. When Pope Paul V appointed a prayer blessing on eggs they were eaten in thankfulness to God for the resurrection of the Lord.

“The resurrection gives my life meaning and direction and the opportunity to start over no matter what my circumstances.”
Robert Flatt

Everything I need to know, I learned from Noah’s Ark
from Bonnie

ONE: Don’t miss the boat.
TWO: Remember that we are all in the same boat.
THREE: Plan ahead. It wasn’t raining when Noah built the Ark.
FOUR: Stay fit. When you’re 60 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.
FIVE: Don’t listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.
SIX: Build your future on high ground.
SEVEN: For safety’s sake, travel in pairs.
EIGHT: Speed isn’t always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.
NINE: When you’re stressed, float awhile.
TEN: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.
ELEVEN: No matter the storm, when you are with God, there’s always a rainbow waiting.

Thanks to Marlene for passing this on to us

Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it. From a distance, each looks like every other horse. But if you stop your car, or are walking by, you will notice something quite amazing. Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind. His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him. This alone is amazing.

If nearby and listening, you will hear the sound of a bell. Looking around for the source of the sound, you will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the field. Attached to her halter is a small bell. It lets her blind friend know where she is, so he can follow her. As you stand and watch these two friends, you’ll see how she is always checking on him, and that he will listen for her bell and then slowly walk to where she is, trusting that she will not lead him astray. When she returns to the shelter of the barn each evening, she stops occasionally and looks back, making sure her friend isn’t too far behind to hear the bell.

Like the owners of these two horses, God does not throw us away just because we are not perfect or because we have problems or challenges. He watches over us and even brings others into our lives to help us when we are in need. Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by the little ringing bell of those who God places in our lives. Other times we are the guide horse, helping others see.

Good friends are like this. You don’t always see them, but you know they are always there.

re: WATER CONSUMPTION

IF YOU HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS OF THE MALADIES MENTIONED IN THIS ARTICLE, SEE A DOCTOR ASAP.

A MIRACLE FOR FREE “The remedy for your medical problems may be as close as your faucet! Pigs will fly before the medical establishment will disclose something simple and free in lieu of costly (and frequently dangerous) medications.

You won’t believe what 8-10 eight-ounce glasses of water per day will do for many maladies. There is one major problem:

People won’t drink that much due to the inconvenience of frequent urination . . . a small price to pay for better health. If your urine is not a very pale yellow, or even clear, you are not getting enough water (does not apply to those taking B-complex vitamins as these turn the urine bright yellow).

When I speak of water I do NOT refer to coffee, sodas or tea. Distilled or spring is best, but filtered tap water will work just fine for most people. Prior to drinking, shake it vigorously for a while. This will oxygenate it.

CURE # 1: DUMP THE TUMS AND CURE HEARTBURN. Heartburn may be a signal of water shortage in the upper part of the gastrointestinal tract. It is a major thirst signal of the human body. The use of antacids or tablet medications in the treatment of this pain does not correct dehydration, and the body continues to suffer as a result of its water shortage.

Tragedy: Not recognizing heartburn as a sign of dehydration and treating it with antacids and pill medications will, in time, produce inflammation of the stomach and duodenum, hiatal hernia, ulceration, and eventually cancers in the gastrointestinal tract, including the liver and pancreas.

CURE # 2: WATER MAY PREVENT AND CURE ARTHRITIS. Rheumatoid Joint Pain – Arthritis – may be a signal of water shortage in the painful joint. It can affect the young as well as the old. The use of pain-killers does not cure the problem, but exposes the person to further damage from pain medications. Intake of water and small amounts of salt will cure this problem.

CURE # 3: BACK PAIN. Low Back Pain and Arthritis of the Spine may be signs of water shortage in the spinal column and discs – the spinal cushions that support the weight of the body. These conditions should be treated with increased water intake – not a commercial treatment, but a very effective one.

Tragedy: Not recognizing arthritis and low back pain as signs of dehydration in the joint cavities and treating them with pain-killers, manipulation, acupuncture, and eventually surgery will, in time, produce osteoarthritis when the cartilage cells in the joints have eventually all died. It will produce deformity of the spine. It will produce crippling deformities of the limbs. Pain medications have their own life-threatening complications.

CURE # 4: ANGINA. Heart Pain – Angina – can be a sign of water shortage in the heart/lung axis. It should be treated with increased water intake until the patient is free of pain and independent of medications. Medical supervision is prudent. However, increased water intake may be your cure for angina.

CURE # 5: MIGRAINES. Migraine Headache may be a sign that water is needed by the brain and the eyes. Migraine may be prevented by keeping dehydration from establishing in the body, and may be totally cleared up by treating for the condition of dehydration. This particular type of dehydration might eventually cause inflammation of the back of the eye and possibly loss of eyesight.

CURE #6: COLITIS. Colitis Pain is a signal of water shortage in the large gut. It is associated with constipation because the large intestine constricts to squeeze too much water from the excrements – thus the lack of water lubrication.

Tragedy: Not recognizing colitis pain as a sign of dehydration will cause persistent constipation, which can result in fecal impacting, verticulitis, hemorrhoids, polyps, and appreciably increase the possibility of developing cancers of the colon and rectum.

CURE # 7: ASTHMA. Asthma, which also affects 12,000,000 children and kills several thousand of them every year, is a complication of dehydration in the body. It is caused by the drought management programs of the body. Free passage of air is obstructed so that water does not leave the body in the form of vapor. Increased water intake will prevent asthma attacks. Asthmatics need also to take more salt to break the mucus plugs in the lungs which obstruct the free flow of air in and out of the air sacs.

Tragedy: Not recognizing asthma as the indicator of dehydration in growing children not only will sentence many thousands of children to die every year, but will permit irreversible genetic damage to establish in the remaining asthmatic children.

CURE # 8: HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE. Hypertension is a state of adaptation of the body to a generalized drought, when there is not enough water to fill all the blood vessels which diffuse water into vital cells. As part of the mechanism of reverse osmosis, when water from the serum is filtered and injected into important cells through minute holes in their membranes, extra pressure is needed for the “injection process.” Just as we inject I.V. “water” in hospitals, so the body injects water into tens of trillions of cells all at the same time. Water and some salt intake will bring blood pressure back to normal!

Tragedy: Not recognizing hypertension as one of the major indicators of dehydration in the human body, and treating it with diuretics that further dehydrate the body will, in time, cause blockage by cholesterol of the heart arteries and the arteries that go to the brain. It will cause heart attacks and small or massive strokes that paralyze. It will eventually cause kidney diseases. It will cause brain damage and neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease.

CURE # 9: ADULT-ONSET DIABETES. Adult-Onset Diabetes is another adaptive state to severe dehydration of the human body. To have adequate water in circulation and for the brain’s priority water needs, the release of insulin is inhibited to prevent insulin from pushing water into all body cells. In diabetes only some cells get survival rations of water. Water and some salt will reverse adult-onset diabetes in its early stages.

Tragedy: Not recognizing adult-onset diabetes as a complication of dehydration may, in time, cause massive damage to the blood vessels all over the body. It may cause eventual loss of the toes, feet and legs from gangrene. It may cause eye damage, even blindness.

CURE # 10: BLOOD CHOLESTEROL. High Cholesterol levels are an indicator of early drought management by the body. Cholesterol is a clay-like material that is poured in the gaps of some cell membranes to safeguard them from losing their vital water content to the osmotically more powerful blood circulating in their vicinity. Cholesterol, apart from being used to manufacture nerve cell membranes and hormones, is also used as a “shield” against water taxation of other vital cells that would normally exchange water through their cell membranes.

CURE # 11: DEPRESSION, LOSS OF LIBIDO, CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME, LUPUS, MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS, MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY. These conditions may be caused by prolonged chronic dehydration. If so, they will clear up once the body becomes well and regularly hydrated. In these conditions, exercising one’s muscles should be part of the treatment program”.
