UPCOMING EVENTS
CAMP 2023, JUNE 10-18
Please take note: due to Board members’ schedules next years Camp will begin on the 2nd Saturday of June rather than the first. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us!! If you’d like to be considered as a Worker or Teacher, now is the time to let us know.
RETURN OF MONTHLY POTLUCK DINNERS
During the pandemic we discontinued our monthly potlucks on the first Sunday of each month. It’s time to resume! So please join us beginning Sunday, November 6, for food and fellowship following our morning service. Feel free to use the kitchen as needed to refrigerate, heat up, or cook your potluck dish.
FIRST SATURDAY SEANCES
During the cold Winter months, we typically take a break from events at Sunset Church and Camp. HOWEVER, we miss spending time together! In fact, the one message we got loud and clear during the events we had this Summer is that the most important thing we do is be together. Therefore, beginning Saturday, November 5, at 7pm we’ll have a Development Circle/Séance on the first Saturday of the month, followed by the monthly Board meeting on Sunday and potluck lunch. The cabins are nice and cozy with the help of a space heater (though the trip “down the path” to the bathhouse can be pretty brisk!). Meals will not be provided, but everyone is welcome to use the kitchen as needed.
Prayer Requests
All prayer requests are shared with the congregation each Sunday morning at Sunset Church. When requested, they are forwarded via e-mail as well. If you have a prayer concern, please call any Board member or e-mail prayers@sunsetcamp.org If you have e-mail and are not getting the Newsletter online, contact Linda 620-727-4329, or llundberg300@gmail.com . If you have e-mail but are still getting the hard copy in the mail and would be willing to be taken off of the snail mail list, please let Linda know about this also.
KEEPING UP WITH THE BOARD by President Karen Lyons
The Board of Trustees will meet on November 6th at 10:00 AM. The meeting is open to all, and the Board welcomes your participation. On Saturday evening November 5th at 7:00 PM there will be circle. You are likewise invited to join us.
Believe it or not, it is time to start planning Camp 2023. If you are willing to teach a class, or serve in any way, please notify the Board of Trustees. If there is a subject you would like to learn more about, let the Board know. This is your Camp, and we want to meet your needs. If you know of someone you would like to have invited to work Camp, let us know that as well. Now is the time to speak up.
There are two projects currently under way. We are replacing the old diseased Elm trees in the center of the cabins with young Maple trees. These new trees will bring beauty and shade to the grounds for many years to come. This project will continue into Spring.
We are working with a new contractor to replace the doors of the Church building and replace the ramp. We are hoping to complete this project before the end of the year. Progress is slow as we wait for contractors to have time and to gather the needed materials.
As we prepare to send this newsletter, we are also preparing for another funeral service. Sometimes it seems that all I do is wait. Yet, time is a funny thing. Time just drags along, then all of a sudden, time is up. A day I thought would never come, is upon me in an instant. Just as I think the time will never come, it is a thing of the past. There certainly is a time for every season under the sun. I confess I’m not very patient, but even I wonder, where did all that time go. I don’t mind waiting for you though. I wait until you have time to come for a visit. Mark my words. The visit won’t be long enough. But as sure as the sunset, the time will come to say goodbye…at least for now.
Do you ever have church services on line? That would be wonderful for those of us that live a far distant.
