MEMBERS OF SUNSET CHURCH INFORMATION NEEDED

We have been working on revising the Bylaws of Sunset Church and have nearly completed the task. Our Constitution requires that we inform all church members in writing before voting on this revision in October. Please send us your current postal address or email address at your earliest convenience so that you will receive this information.

Prayer Requests

All prayer requests are shared with the congregation each Sunday morning at Sunset Church. When requested, they are forwarded via e-mail as well. If you have a prayer concern, please call any Board member or e-mail prayers@sunsetcamp.org

If you have e-mail and are not getting the Newsletter online, contact Linda 620-727-4329, or llundberg300@gmail.com . If you have e-mail but are still getting the hard copy in the mail and would be willing to be taken off of the snail mail list, please let Linda know about this also.

KEEPING UP WITH THE BOARD

by President Karen Lyons

The April Board meeting is scheduled for the 5th at 10:00 AM followed by a service and pot luck lunch for those who wish to attend.

The Board has been working on proposed changes to the By-Laws.  These changes are meant to clarify some areas and update others.  I believe this project will be concluded at the meeting. Everyone will be informed of these proposals when they are finalized.  Every member of the Church will be furnished with a copy in accordance with our Constitution and ByLaws. The decision to adopt the updated version or not, will be made at the October Business Meeting, also in accordance with the Constitution.  Please be sure that the Secretary has an accurate email address or postal address if you prefer to receive notification by mail.

The Board has also been working on Camp 2020.  June Camp is right around the corner and the excitement is mounting.  The Board is bringing back some of your favorites along with new classes. The weather is still a bit contrary, but we are still planning projects to improve the facilities and ready the Camp for your arrival.

The Ladies (not just for ladies) Aid Society is maintaining the Angel tree in the Church.  For a donation of five dollars, one may attach the name of a loved one to be especially remembered and hang it on the tree.  This is a favorite project of mine. I enjoy the energy of the tree as it fills with memories of those who are beloved and honored there. These donations are used by the Ladies Aid for landscaping projects as well as touching up paint and things like that.  The little things that contribute so much to our enjoyment of the grounds.

I remember as a small child being called to the supper table.  We all came running. Often the boys were told, “go put on a shirt”, “take that hat off”.  We were also routinely asked, “did you wash your hands”. As the boys grew, they learned to wear a shirt and remove their caps before coming to the table.  And I don’t recall just when, but the day came we were no longer reminded that we needed to wash our hands. Forgive my ignorance, but it seems odd to me now that the President of The United States must address our nation from the Oval Office to wash our hands.  It seems such a simple thing that we should all know. It is just like the theme of Camp 2020, “Love Where You Are Planted”. It seems such a simple thing that we should all know. President Trump has pointed out that it doesn’t hurt to be reminded from time to time.  Even the simple things.
