January Potluck and Board Meeting
Join us on January 7 for class, Church service, and our regular first-Sunday potluck dinner. The monthly Board meeting will be held following the meal and, as always, we invite everyone to attend and take part. Camp 2007 will be held June 9 – 24. The Board will be working on the planning stages of Camp and welcome input from anyone who has ideas to share!
Special Project
Rev. Gwendolyn is at it again! She never ceases to amaze us with her ingenuity and endless energy to create unique and beautiful things. She is asking us to save our old calendars with pictures on them, as she has yet another project in mind for using these. Not long ago she asked us to save our old greeting cards, and has gifted the church dining room with lovely placemats which she created from them. Please bring your calendars to the church and we will collect them there for her to pick up. Rev. Gwen has also gifted many of our members in need with beautiful crocheted prayer shawls, which are greatly appreciated by the recipients. Thank you, Gwendolyn, for all you do, for being an inspiration for all of us, and for showing us what it means to live a life of service to others!

Keeping Up With the Board – from President Karen Lyons
Planning Camp has begun in earnest. The success of Camp depends on all of our members getting involved to the extent one is able. If you have ideas for classes, are willing to help teach, or have someone in mind to teach, please contact the Board. The Board will also be seeking volunteer labor. More about that later.
We did it! Leo Whitley pulled out his wallet and, as pledged, the purchase of a third cabin has been made. I’m not too good at asking for money, but for this project, I don’t mind. The cabin still needs electrical service and sheet rock, insulation and furniture. Sooooo, keep shaking those piggy banks. Pledges are still needed. A little really does go long way though, as one member pointed out with a challenge pledge of $28.50 to other members to match his pledge. The Board thanks you for your quick response in support of this project and would like to remind you, if you have not already done so, it’s not too late to send a pledge.
The Christmas Eve Sunday morning service will be followed by lunch prepared by Linda Anderson. If you do not have plans to be with your family, please come and join us. Rev Evadne Tuxhorn has also extended an invitation to lunch following the Sunday morning service on New Years Eve. Thank you Linda and Rev Tuxhorn. I, for one, wouldn’t miss it.
Christmas is traditionally a joyful time, but this season is also tempered with sadness. Please take time out during your celebration to remember the families of Sue Fox-Emrich and Donna Haynes. Sue and Donna, you will be missed. Special greeting to these families and others who are having their first Christmas without someone they love. It is so easy for them, but hard for us. God Bless you one and all.
Healing Work or Private Counseling available after any Sunday Church Service by an attending Minister.
Prayer Requests
All prayer requests are shared with the congregation on each Sunday morning at Sunset Church. The request is added to a prayer list and is remembered each week until the issue is resolved. Prayer requests received via e-mail are forwarded to the e-mail list as well. If you have a prayer concern, please call any Board member or e-mail lindaanderson4825@sbcglobal.net .
If you have e-mail and are not getting the Newsletter online, contact Linda, 620-663-2988 (evenings), 620-727-4329 (cell), or lindaanderson4825@sbcglobal.net

The light of God surrounds us
The love of God enfolds us
The power of God protects us
The presence of God watches over us
Wherever we are, God is!
Rev. Evadne Tuxhorn closes each of her services with these words. Thank you, Rev. Tuxhorn, for this perfect reminder for us at Christmas and all year long!
May your Christmas be filled with love and light, and may the peace within your heart spread to all the world.
