HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This Newsletter is about a week later getting out than we had planned and hoped for. A week without electricity reminded us to be thankful for the many things we take for granted every day. Now that 2008 is here, we’re hoping the winter weather patterns will ease up! December was a challenging month for Kansas, as well as for many of you in other parts of the country. Sunday services were canceled on December 9 and 16 due to ice, snow, and power outage. The trees on the church grounds have sustained quite a bit of damage and will require extensive trimming and clean up. We are so thankful to have all of the electrical service to the cabins now underground, so only the lines to the bathhouse were down. Please continue to call ahead to any Board member if the weather is questionable on Sunday mornings. We’re always disappointed when church services have to be canceled, but sometimes staying home is the wisest choice.

Keeping Up With the Board – from President Karen Lyons

For the Board of Trustees, Camp 2008 has begun!  It is not too late for you to contact a member of the Board or the Camp Commitee with your suggestions and ideas.  Some changes will be made this year that I think will be of interest to many of you so keep this outreach effort in your prayers and meditations.

With the advent of Spring, we will resume scheduling workshops and weekend study events.  Keep your eye on the Newsletter for details.  I join Linda in the apology for the late arrival of this edition.  No electricity put me a week behind in every area of my life.  How spoiled I am!

This Fall and so far this Winter there have been several requests for your prayers.  All have been appreciated.  I am happy to report, without her permission, that Javene Whitley seems to be reponding to treatment and for now is doing much better.   I believe that Rev Gwen is also doing good after a spell with her heart.  Keep these as well as others whose progress I am not aware of in your prayer and meditation.

On the agenda for the January Board meeting, the Board will be discussing the clean up of the ice storm debris.  The only structure damage I’ve found is a broken window in cabin six.  I hope when I’m a hundred I’m still as sound as those little cabins!

For those who live at a distance and may not have heard, we are saddened to inform you that Paul Hyde passed on December 8.  Please remember Jo Ann, Dee, Pam, W. T., David, Robert and their families as they adjust to life without Paul in the physical plane.

Sunday class at 10:00 a.m. each Sunday is heating up.  If you have not been able to get to Church since we began our study of “The Way of Mastery”, you can still join us on this study.  You will find the book available at www.shantichristo.com.  In class we are just beginning chapter three.  The title of the chapter is “Forgiveness”.  That seems innocent enough, but as one student proclaimed, “It hit me right between the eyes!”

As we enter the new year, may I please resolve to live every moment in the moment.  May I smooth my course by learning the lessons I came to learn, in my case, without being beat over the head every day.  May I spend more time being love.  May I spend more energy on spiritual growth.  May I meditate on these things.

Finally, believe all things, hope all things in prayer and thanksgiving.
