Sunset Spiritualist Camp 2007 – June 9 – 24
Camp is the highlight of the year for so many of us_ We look forward to seeing old friends, making new ones, and just being on our beloved Church grounds to, as the hymn says, “Revive Us Again”_ Camp also helps fund the upkeep and preservation of the Church and grounds. It takes many dedicated volunteers to pull it off each year. If you are able to help in any way, please let us know. We can always use as much or as little of your time as you can spare. From flipping burgers in the Snack Bar to carrying the trash bags to the dumpster after meals, there are many tasks big and small that need to be done every day. Contact Linda (620-727-4329 or email lindaanderson4825@sbcglobal.net) or Debbie (785-309-0318 or email dag141951@yahoo.com) if you would like to participate in Camp as one of our volunteers.
THANK YOU___

Please come and help with whatever/whenever you can_ It will be helpful if you let us know you’re coming, as we will be providing meals to the workers and would like to know how many to plan for. However, if you find you can show up unexpectedly, we will definitely be happy to put you to work_ This is a big undertaking, but Ron is determined to get all the cabins remodeled and ready for Campers_ Your help will be greatly appreciated by Sunset Church as well as by the many who will come to experience Sunset Camp this year and for many years to come_
JOIN US APRIL 14 & 15!
According to Ron Glasgow’s Work Schedule, April 14 and 15 will be the days we put the final coat of paint on the new cabins. This calls for celebration! Jessica Palmer has agreed to give a demonstration of Mediumship on Saturday evening, April 14. We will have supper together that evening, wash the paint out of our hair, and then enjoy time with Jessica. She will also be conducting Church service on Sunday, April 15.
Jessica Palmer is an author who has four books coming out in the next year. She has previously written and had published 25 other books. She is an ordained minister, having done platform mediumship all over Great Britain. Her books on Native American culture and her animal work have taken her from New Mexico and Colorado to London and Oxford, giving talks and teaching workshops. Jessica runs an animal rescue shelter at her home in McPherson, Kansas.
Even though many of the cabins will be in the process of being remodeled during this weekend, we will have some that will be ready for guests. Please call Linda, 620-727-4329, if you wish to reserve a cabin for April 14. There is no charge for the cabins or meals on the work weekends (other than Ron Glasgow’s gentle persuasion that we all get busy and work).
Keeping Up With the Board – from President Karen Lyons
I am happy to report that Rev Norma Johnson is doing very well after her surgery. In fact, I think she is a bit more feisty if you can believe it. Fear not. Norma assures me that she will be ready to welcome everyone arriving for Camp as usual.
As Linda has pointed out above, we have a plan for getting the grounds ready for Camp. The project outlined is a little overwhelming, but I know with your help, it will get done. I remember when Rev. Gary Nicholson, Patti, Ron Glasgow (foreman), The Whitley Boys, along with LeRoy Windhorst hung sheet rock in the first two new cabins. Everyone ended up tired as can be, but also proud of the result. I won’t speak for the others, but I had a great time. There were a few tense moments, and Patti and I did cut a piece of sheet rock that didn’t fit the hole. As a matter of fact, it didn’t fit any of the holes. We still had a good time.
I am looking forward to getting started as soon as the weather permits and I hope you will come and pitch in. I realize many of you just can’t get away but would love to help if you just could. We will always be happy to take money in place of work and will think of you fondly as we wield the paint brush in your stead Speaking of the weather, we have had to cancel church services several weeks in a row this year. This was the first year in a while that had happened. I don’t know about ya’ll but I’m ready for a break from winter.
The February Board meeting as well as the next few meetings will be spent putting the final touches on Camp. This is your last opportunity to get your ideas in before the Camp Book goes to print. Don’t put off getting in your ideas for classes and other activities. A big thank you to those who have signed up to give classes and to offer services at Camp. As you know, Camp is a group effort and you are the best group there is_
I’m getting excited to see you again and pray that all is well with you and yours until then.

CAMP BOOK SPONSORS
One of our church members has inquired whether it was possible to help defray the expense of printing and mailing the Camp books by donating to be a Camp Book Sponsor. The Board decided at their March 4 meeting to offer this option for those who are interested. Anyone can be a Camp Book Sponsor by sending your donation to our Treasurer, Javene Whitley, 208 Main Street, Wells, KS, 67467. Please include how you would like your name to appear in the list of Camp Book Sponsors (i.e. Mr. and Mrs., Ms., LeRoy and Maxine, etc.).
PLEASE NOTE: Donations must be received by March 24 to make our deadline for publication. This is short notice, so if you are interested in supporting Sunset Camp in this way, you’ll need to act quickly!
BOOK SWAP
If you have any metaphysical/spiritual books you’d like to swap for some different ones, bring them along to add to those we have on display in the dining room. Leave some, take some, no money involved, just sharing with one another!
