WOW!! What a great WOrkshop. We learned a lot about what it means to be a spiritualist and had a wonderful time too. Thanks to all who made it happen!
Spiritualism is a common sense religion, one of knowing and living. We accept all truths and endeavor to prove their validity. Truths are found in nature, in other religions, in writings, in science, in philosophy, in Divine Law and are received through spirit communication.

Blind Man
One day, there was a blind man sitting on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet and a sign that read: “I am blind, please help”. A creative publicist was walking by him and stopped to observe. He saw that the blind man had only a few coins in his hat. He dropped in a few more coins and, without asking for permission, took the sign, turned it around and wrote another announcement. He placed the sign by the blind man’s feet and left.
That afternoon the creative publicist returned to where the blind man sat and noticed that his hat was full of bills and coins. The blind man recognized his footsteps and asked if it was he who had re-written his sign and he wanted to know what he had written on it. The publicist responded: “Nothing that was not true, I just wrote your sign out a little differently.” He smiled and went on his way. The new sign read: “TODAY IS SPRING AND I CANNOT SEE IT.”
Sometimes you need to change your strategy when something does not go your way and you’ll see it may just be for the best. Remember, do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always got….

Letter from Karen Lyons, President of Sunset Spiritualist Board
Your Board of Trustees have been busy all winter serving you, taking care of the Church.
As you know the pews have been padded and donations are being accepted to replace those funds in the general fund. A dehumidifier will soon be installed in the basement that will not have to be emptied. A few more floor mats will be added to the kitchen, and a full refrigerator as well. All before Camp.
Last Fall the heater on the ladies side of the bath house was mistakenly turned off and when the freeze came, some of the pipes and most of the fixtures broke. Now we have new pipes and fixtures and we will be treating for mold and painting to get the bath house ready for Camp.
The “Spring Into Spiritualism” workshop was a bold undertaking by the Board. I am personally very proud of them and hope that some of their courage will rub off on me. To declare the workshop a success is an understatement. The Board will keep to this theme with “Spiritualism: The Basics” for Camp. Patti, Kitty and others have been working very hard along with the rest of the Board in putting Camp together. The Board has designated April 30 – May 1st and May 28 – 29 as work days. Any time you can give to prepare the grounds for Camp will be great.
At 8:30 AM on April 30th the Board will be meeting with Billy Branson. Billy has applied for ordination. The Board, as always, welcomes any members who wish to be present.
The Board is attempting to round-up the ordained ministers of The First Society of State Spiritualists of Kansas. Just like everyone else these days, some have moved and over time we have lost track of them. If you are a minister, please give Norma up-to-date contact information. If you know of a minister who has been out of communication, please let Norma know.
“Peace be to the brethern, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Eph 6:23)

INFORMATION ABOUT THE APRIL 24th FULL MOON(much condensed version)
The full moon on April 24th is known as the Wesak Moon or Buddha Moon, it is the most powerful full moon of the year. Buddha died during this full moon and returns each year at this time to bring a message to humanity. This takes place high in the Himalayas where Masters of the Wisdom, lead by The Christ meet for a group meditation. The more individuals who meditate on sending their desire for the greatest good of all, the stronger the energy will full thru to all humanity. The Christ is a Universal figure, whose spiritual mission is to redeem all of Humanity, to make a heaven of Earth, this will happen when Humanity fully comprehends The Christ’s teachings of love and the brotherhood of ALL. The Christ taught a new way to pray, directly to God, as the avatar of love He appeals to the human heart. The Buddha taught Humanity a new way of thinking, as the avatar of wisdom He appeals to the human mind. Christ and the Buddha work together at this time to open a channel of communication between Humanity and the Heavenly Hierarchy to reveal plans for humanity, we are able to understand more deeply the mysteries surrounding the Kingdom of God. The lunar eclipse during this time makes the connection especially powerful.
A woman was waiting at an airport one night,
With several long hours before her flight.
She hunted for a book in the airport shop.
Bought a bag of cookies and found a place to drop.
She was engrossed in her book but happened to see,
That the man sitting beside her, as bold as could be,
Grabbed a cookie or two from the bag in between,
Which she tried to ignore to avoid a scene.
So she munched the cookies and watched the clock,
As the gutsy cookie thief diminished her stock.
She was getting more irritated as the minutes ticked by,
Thinking, “If I wasn’t so nice, I would blacken his eye.”
With each cookie she took, he took one too,
When only one was left, she wondered what he would do.
With a smile on his face, and a nervous laugh,
He took the last cookie and broke it in half.
He offered her half, as he ate the other,
She snatched it from him and thought… oooh, brother.
This guy has some nerve and he’s also rude,
Why he didn’t even show any gratitude!
She had never known when she had been so galled,
And sighed with relief when her flight was called.
She gathered her belongings and headed to the gate,
Refusing to look back at the thieving ingrate.
She boarded the plane, and sank in her seat,
Then she sought her book, which was almost complete.
As she reached in her baggage, she gasped with surprise,
There was her bag of cookies, in front of her eyes.
If mine are here, she moaned in despair,
The others were his, and he tried to share.
Too late to apologize, she realized with grief,
That she was the rude one, the ingrate, the thief.
How many times in our lives,
have we absolutely known
that something was a certain way,
only to discover later that
what we believed to be true … was not??
