THANK YOU KEVIN! DNA ACTIVATION WORKSHOP A BIG SUCCESS!!!

Our grateful appreciation goes to Kevin Phillips for presenting, and to all of you who attended and gave generously! Not only did we have a delightful weekend August 22 – 24, we also joined together spiritually, emotionally, and mentally to forge meaningful relationships as we assist one another on our individual paths to enlightenment. “Thank you” just doesn’t quite say enough — Kevin, we love you!

BUILD THE BATHHOUSE!!

The “joys of home ownership” extend to maintaining the grounds of Sunset Church and Camp, and we continue with the projects already begun which included adding new cabins, renovating old cabins, electrical updates, and the plans to add a chair lift to the basement/dining hall. We also have identified the need for a larger, more accessible bathhouse. Our water well is located in a pit in the storage portion of the bathhouse. The concrete walls of that pit have begun to buckle and the outside concrete block walls of the bathhouse have developed large cracks due to the natural shifting and settling of the ground over many years. It appears the “fix” to these problems is to tear down the old and build a new bathhouse. For those of us who regularly use this facility, this will be a welcome, wonderful improvement! It will also involve a large financial commitment to complete. Our fall workshops not only fulfill our mission to provide an environment to teach, counsel, and guide, but also serve as fundraisers to enable Sunset Church to continue to thrive and grow. Please join us whenever you are able as we embark on our “Build the Bathhouse” campaign! If you are unable to attend but wish to contribute to this project, you may make donations on our website www.sunsetcamp.org , or by sending a check directly to Sunset Church, 103 Hanes, Wells, KS, 67467. As all of us who love her know, Javene, our Treasurer, always has a smile on her face and her hand out to gratefully accept donations!

Keeping Up With the Board – from President Karen Lyons

WOW ! ! I’m not sure I can keep up ! The Build A Bathhouse campaign is in full swing. Did I say Swing? That would imply a certain ebb and flow. That doesn’t fit. The Board threw out a need and ya’ll have taken off. I hope the Board can keep up with the pace the project has set. This project does not have a life of it’s own however. The life comes from the hard work and dedication of those who have voluteered to present workshops.

First, a big thank you to Kevin Phillips. The August workshop was intense and inspiring. So much so that Cynthia and Charles both became immersed in the planning of their own workshops. Personally, I believe that each is trying to outdo the other and to outdo Kevin. I kind of like it. As for Rev Evadne, she has been holding back an ace all along. Evadne has recruited LaDonna Hauck to provide the meals for her workshop. Speaking of meals, Pris Yotter came from Oregon to help in the kitchen for Kevin’s workshop. It was hard work. Thanks Pris.

Raising money for improvements to the camp grounds is an important function of the Board of Trustees. It is a responsibility that is taken very seriously as evidenced by the long list of improvements that have been made by this Board of Trustees. Having said that, not to be caught up in the excitement of a plan coming together, the greater and more important mission of teaching and providing a venue for teaching is not taking a back seat to money.

As the season of workshops continues, I am excited by the quality and diversity of the subjects as well as the presenters. I know of no other organization the size of Sunset Church that is able to bring equal quality for a more affordable price. None of this matters or works without you, the participants. I hope that you will all be able to afford yourselves of the opportunities that will be offered over the course of the next few months and attend those workshops that you are drawn to. If you read a bulletin and your response is, hmmm, I encourage you to check it out. There are blessings waiting to be showered upon us through these opportunities for learning, service, and fellowship. A new bathhouse doesn’t hurt eaither.

If you don’t visit the Church website often, you are out of the loop. Rev Charles Cox does something every day to improve and tweak this very important outreach tool. In fact, if you are not able to attend any of the workshops, you can still help with the building project or any other project dear to your heart. Simply visit the web site and make your donation on the net through PayPal. It is a proven safe method that most of us already use for routine purchases. Charles also responds well to suggestions for improving the site. PayPal is an example of a member suggestion. Through the internet you can be involved even when you can’t be here. Thank you, Charles.

“Knock and the door will open. Seek and you will find.” Never have these words of promise been more true. Ya’ll come!
